Vein Removal

What are spider and varicose veins?

Spider veins (telangiectasis) are those any purple and red blood vessels found most commonly on the thigh or lower legs. Spider veins can be hereditary and can form anywhere on the leg, from the top of the thigh to the ankle. Varicose veins differ from spider veins in a number of ways. Generally varicose veins are larger, usually more than a quarter inch in diameter, darker in colour, tend to blue and can become quite painful and should be treated by a vascular surgeon.

Vein removal treatment options

Scleorotherapy is a medical procedure used to treat smaller varicose and all spider veins. The treatment involves an injection of a solution (generally sodium chloride) directly into the vein through a micro-needle, This solution irritates the lining of the vessel, causing it to swell and stick together and the blood to clot. Over time the vessel turns to scar tissue and fades from view.

Laser Vein Removal is preferable to Sclerotherapy. This method is often used to remove spider veins on the face, which tend to be closer to the surface of the skin However laser treatments cannot penetrate deeply enough to successfully treat most cases of veins on the legs Sometimes a combination of laser treatment and sclerotherapy is recommended.

With laser, we are able to provide safe and effective treatment options for the removal of spider veins on the face and legs. During your treatment, light energy is delivered through a special laser handpick to the targeted vein the light energy is absorbed by the blood vessels, but not the surrounding tissue. This heat absorption cause a coagulation of the blood vessel, which is subsequently absorbed by your body.

Facial Veins

Facial redness is a common skin concern that we treat regularly. Vascular concerns on the face are referred to as broken capillaries  or spider veins and are often a result of genetics, sun exposure, using harsh products and other factors such as rosacea.

Using the latest technology, we can quickly, and safely treat these unsightly vessels without bruising or other complication. Results can be seen in as little as one treatments however, typically require a series.

Leg Veins

Not all leg veins need to be injected to get rid of them! Laser vein removal is proving to be one of the most effective ways to eliminate these vessels without the downtime of injections. Using advanced cooling technology, we are able to treat a much wider range of vessels on the legs than before. Anyone who is genetically prone to varicose veins can seek laser vein removal for prevention.

What types of veins can be treated?

Both Sclerotherapy and Laser can remove unsightly veins from all parts of the body. Small facial veins (or ‘telangiectasias’) can be treated quickly without bruising or complication. Spider veins and large blue leg veins can be treated with excellent result. Blood blisters or hemangioma respond very well to our laser vein treatment and are usually gone with just one treatment. Patients with port wine stains and other vascular lesions who had given up on finding a solution have also found success with laser treatments.

FAQs

For the first 48 hours, it is important to avoid anything that may increase circulation and flushing. This includes strenuous exercise, alcohol consumption and hot baths or showers. Once the veins are collapsed, we want to avoid re opening the blood vessel as this will encourage your body to repair it instead of eliminating it.

Because we use gold standard equipment, we are able to treat a wide variety of vessels. Varicose veins are not treatable with laser as they require injections.
